About Dream Big!

Dream Big! works to provide girls and young women, from low-income and homeless situations, with the sports attire, program fees, equipment, training, mentoring opportunities and leadership training needed for them to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being. Over the past seven years Dream Big! equipment, sports attire and athletic footwear donations, program fee and college showcase scholarships, sports clinics and the Dream Big! Leadership Conferences for urban female athletes has had a direct impact on over 30,000 girls in need. Unfortunately, poverty can severely limit a young girl’s involvement in sports and physical activities. Dream Big! is working to breakdown the financial barrier that currently prevents girls from participating in, and being empowered through, sports. This past year Dream Big! programs impacted over 7000 girls in need. Here are just a few examples of Dream Big! support provided this year: Over 146 school and community based programs were provided with over $250,000 worth of equipment and sports attire donations; hundreds of female athletes received new sneakers and cleats; over 400 girls from Boston attended basketball college showcases throughout the country; 150 female athletes from Boston and Lawrence attended the 6th Annual Dream Big! Leadership Conference at UMASS Boston and 10 elementary schools in urban communities received sports & physical education equipment to help keep thousands of children active both during P.E. classes and recess
