About Revolution of Hope
The Roxbury Youth Orchestra is a joy-filled intensive, conservatory level music program in the heart of Roxbury’s Dudley Square neighborhood. We launched in February 2013 and meet 5 days a week for 3 hours each day. We transform the lives of inner city youth through the social intervention of music. The world has recently marveled over the social change and musical revolution happening in Venezuela’s renowned music program affectionately known as El Sistema. For over thirty years El Sistema has been transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people providing a new trajectory of hope through the ingenious vehicle of a symphony orchestra. This is what Revolution of Hope aims to do. The goal is not merely to give the kids a place to go but show them how to build a home; we strive to create a lasting community upon a tradition of equity, opportunity, and confidence from music. After our time together, our students will walk the on to the streets of Boston empowered. Armed with self-esteem and the will to dream. In our first 2 years the young people have performed 25 concerts for over 10,00 people around New England!! This year we hope to serve more students and double our number to 30 young people served. In order to do this we need YOUR help!
